NYC iSchool and Chelsea Career and Technical Education High School share a building in Manhattan, but enroll vastly different student populations. Worked in a small team to train for running a committee at the National High School Model United Nations conference, the largest and most prestigious. MUN is a place where one can learn and have fun all at the same time. NYC iSchool High School Diploma 98.7/100. Being aware of global politics in a country like America, where everything is very self-centered, is important. "MUN has helped me become more aware of global politics and is one of the few programs that can give students the opportunity to do so. NYC iSchool is a public high school dedicated to equipping students with the skills necessary for success and leadership in the 21st century. The iSchool shares its space with another DOE high school and operates within the same policies and regulations of any NYC public high school. Model UN simulations engage hundreds of thousands of students each year, helping them to learn more about the principles of the UN and how it functions. I have developed strong public speaking skills, learned how to collaborate with others, and regained my confidence because of this impactful club." When I joined the club at the beginning of Sophomore year, I had no idea what to expect, as well as how to deal with my crippling fear of speaking in public. ![]() The diversity is academic, racial, and socioeconomic."I can proudly say that Model UN has made me into the person I am today. Each year since its opening, the school has added approximately 120 new ninth graders the school is now at capacity with approximately 470 students and occupies the fourth and fifth floors of its current building.ĭespite the challenge of acceptance to the school (the school receives about 3000 applications each year for 120 spots), the iSchool has attracted and admitted a remarkably diverse student body, with students coming to the school from all five boroughs of New York City, some traveling over an hour and a half to attend the school each day. The iSchool shares its space with another DOE high school and operates within the same policies and regulations of any NYC public high school. The iSchool opened its doors in September 2008 with 100 ninth grade students on part of the fifth floor of a 100-plus-year-old school building in the SoHo area of Manhattan.
